Mr. Jonathan Kirk
I am thrilled to be the 7th Grade English Language Arts teacher at Chestnut Ridge Middle School!
I am a 2021 graduate of Saint Francis University where I earned my B.S.Ed. degree in Middle/Secondary Level English Education along with minor certificates in Literature, Fine Arts, and Music Wellness and Life Design. In 2025, I earned my Master of Arts in English and Creative Writing from Southern New Hampshire University, and in 2026, I completed a Teaching Certificate in Higher Education through Harvard University. I currently hold Pennsylvania teaching certifications for grades 4–8 and 7–12.
In addition to teaching 7th grade ELA, I serve as the 7th Grade Team Lead, a Middle School SAP Team Representative, and Co-Advisor of the CRHS Drama Club. Beyond Chestnut Ridge, I work as an ELA Curriculum Content Creator with IXL Learning and as an Adjunct Professor of English Literature at Saint Francis University. These roles allow me to continue growing as an educator while contributing to English Language Arts instruction at both the K–12 and college levels.
7th grade at CRMS serves as the transition year to high school. Thus, through exploration of several thematic units, your child will compose a variety of writing projects throughout the year that will strengthen writing skills and knowledge of grammatical content in preparation for the rigor of content area and career writing.
